HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018 Election - General Information - Revised 2018 05 02 (2) CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS 2018 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES On Tuesday, November 6th, 2018, the City of Winter Springs will hold a General Municipal Election in which the Voters will elect a Mayor, a District Two City Commissioner, and a District Four City Commissioner, all for a four (4) year Term of Office. Additionally, pursuant to the recent mid-term District Three City Commission vacancy, also on Tuesday, November 6th, 2018, during the City of Winter Springs’ General Municipal Election, the Voters will also elect a City Commissioner for District Three to complete the current Term of Office which will end in November 2020. PLEASE NOTE: An individual wishing to run for Elected Office in the City of Winter Springs shall be a registered and qualified Voter in Winter Springs, at the time of their Qualifying. A Candidate for Mayor of the City of Winter Springs shall have resided in the City one (1) year prior to the time of Qualifying. A Candidate seeking the Office of Commissioner for District Two or Commissioner for District Four or Commissioner for District Three in Winter Springs shall have resided in the City one (1) year prior to the time of qualifying; AND shall have resided in the applicable Commission District six (6) months prior to the time of Qualifying. During the Qualifying Period in Winter Springs, along with other forms to be completed and turned into the City Clerk, a Petition form with fifteen (15) signatures will be required (by using a form supplied by the City of Winter Springs and which will be available with Qualifying Packets), as well as payment of the following amounts drawn from your official Campaign Checking Account and made payable to the City of Winter Springs: Qualifying Fee: $150.00 AND A 1% Assessment Fee as noted below: The Mayor Receives: $1,200.00 per month $1,200.00 x 12 months = $14,400.00 annually The 1% Assessment amounts to: $144.00 OR Each Commissioner Receives: $1,000.00 per month $1,000.00 x 12 months = $12,000.00 annually The 1% Assessment amounts to: $120.00 Note: The information in this document is simply a very brief overview of basic information and is not intended to be a complete and definitive guide to running for local Elected Office.
