Sean,
Yes, effective October 1, 2012, section 119.071(4)(d)1.a, Florida Statutes, specifies that both sworn and civilian law
enforcement personnel (such as dispatch) benefit from the public records exemption for personal identifying
information. Prior to this legislative change, it really wasn't clear.
Thus, home addresses, telephone number, SSNs, dates of birth, and photographs of active or former sworn or civilian
law enforcement personnel are exempt from the inspection and copying requirements of section 119.07(1). Further,
that same information, as well as the places of employment of the spouses and children, and the names and locations of
the schools of the children, of sworn and civilian law enforcement personnel are exempt as well.

Sean — exempt how? Do you mean under "exempt" under the wage and hours laws?

Good Morning Kate,
We have been asked if Non -Sworn Employees at PD are exempt, such as Dispatch. I see that Code Enforcement officials
are and of course sworn officers. I didn't see anything in the Florida Statute that addresses the dispatch folks.
If you would be so kind as to clarify for us please. Thank you!
