I told her that in the past we did not post a Republican Parry Political Event and asked if the difference between the Hob Nob and the Republican Party Event was because the Republican Party Event was about a specific Party and she said that yes, the Hob Nob is more generalized and for lack of a better word, does not play Party favors. I asked her if the difference between posting the League of Women Voters Event and an individual Candidate Event, like we have been asked to do in the past, was because the League of Women Voters has all Candidates there and not just one (1) Candidate, and she said yes, it is kind of like the Hob Nob vs. Republican Parry Event. So, to clear up, we do need to post Hob Nob's and Candidate Night's only if it is not one (1) certain Party affiliation or one (1) Candidate Event. I will include this in the Attorney Opinion files as well as in our City Clerk Procedures. You will hear from Tara in my office today. I am out of town at a seminar. Short answer is to notice both events. Thanks! 7/17/2008 Vie: Posting Community Forums Page 2 of 3 From: Danielle Harker Sent: Friday, July 11, 2008 4:20 PM To: 'Kate Latorre' Cc: _City Clerk Department Subject: Posting Community Forums Kate, Could you give me some clarification on the attached Resolution 2006-25? Could you please clarify the difference between the "community forum" referenced in Section 3. Other City Sponsored Functions and Community Forums. first paragraph and the "community forum" referenced in the same section under (C). From what I gather, the one referenced in the first paragraph speaks about community forums for candidates of Winter Springs and the other one referenced under (C) speaks about community forums involving other election candidates (i.e. county, state)? Basically, what we are trying to figure out is whether or not we need to post the Seminole Hob Nob (which we have posted in the past) sponsored by the Seminole Regional Chamber of Commerce on August 7, 2008. As you can see from the hyperlink http;//www.seminolebusiness.or EventCalendar/EventDetails.asp?sAc=1&iEventId=%2D350788001_ <httR://www.seminolebusiness.org/EventCalendar/EventDetails.asp?sAc=l&iEventld=%2D35078_800_1> , it appears that this is somewhat of a "candidate night". Would that fall under Section 3.(C) as an event that we would post? Along the same lines, later this year, the League of Women Voters will most likely hold a "Candidate Night" involving the City of Winter Springs candidates. Considering it involves strictly Winter Springs candidates, does it fall under Section 3 first paragraph in which we do not have to post? Any clarification you can offer in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
