Representatives from premier Amateur Radio Satellite organizations as well as Amateur Radio organizations
and the nations associated with the International Space Station signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 1996 establishing
"ARISS" (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station); and
WHEREAS, The "ARISS" program offers students around the world with interest in STEM (Science,Technology, Engineering,
and Math), an incredible opportunity to be able to communicate directly with Astronauts on the International Space Station: and
WHEREAS, The students and faculty of Indian Trails Middle School, an outstanding "A" rated school in Seminole County,
Florida, have been wholeheartedly dedicated and have worked at warp speed on their prime directive which is this inter-cosmic
Contract Proposal to being the next school selected to participate in the stellar"ARISS"program;and
WHEREAS, The City of Winter Springs always supports and encourages area students to pursue every opportunity to gain
knowledge, experience, and experiment with excellence in every way possible: and as a city, we fully support STEM education and
the use of radio and satellite communication as a means to promote this vital educational need in our nation.
Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, do hereby Proclaim that the City of
Winter Springs fully endorses
Indian Trails Middle school
in their Contract Proposal to participate in the "ARISS" program: and knows that the dedication, capability and proficiency of the
students and faculty of Indian Trails Middle School will ascend to new heights in the excellence of educational pursuits and space
communications which generations in this galaxy will be proud of,for light years to come.
