• "For cost- for comparison purposes, I called Matlack Tree Farm in Clermont and spoke
with Jeff- cost is $165.00 for a 30 gal. - so $165.00*16 trees - $2,640.00 for the trees.
• They are about 1 hr. from Winter Springs - so a few hours are needed for pick up and
return- at $45.00 per hr, for 3 hrs. = $135.00
• Installation costs est. - 16 trees at 1 hr. per tree at a $45.00 labor rate = 16 Hrs. *$45.00
-$720.00
• Summary =$2,640.00+ $135.00 + $720.00 = $3,495.00 add a 10% contingency -$350.00
Total cost - 3,844.50. Brightview Est is $5,150.40; difference $1,jgS.90 or 25%
• **Spoke with Jim Hunter South Seminole on Lake Drive $13S.00 for a 30 gal. so
$13S.00 *16 trees 0.00.
• They are local so 1 hour RT at $45.00, bring the cost to $2,160.00+ $45.00+$720.00
(same installation cost) = $2,925.00 add a 10% contingency - $293.00.
Total cost -$3,217.50. Brightview Est. is $5,150.40, difference $1,932.90 or 38%
• "Spoke with Nanna at Majestic Tree Farm in Clermont they sell wholesale only cost is
$95.00 for a 30 gal 7/8 ft. tall. so $95.00*16 trees -$1,520.00 for the trees
• They are about I hr. from Winter Springs - so a few hours are needed for pick up and
return- at $45.00 per hr. for 3 hrs. = $135.00
• Installation costs est. - 16 trees at 1 hr. per tree at a $45.00 labor rate = 16 Hrs. *$45.00
-$720.00
• Summary =$1,520.00+ $135.00 + $720.00 = $2,395.00 add a 10% contingency $240.00.
Total cost - 2,612.50 Brightview Est is $5,150.40; difference $g,j .90 or 49%

• I looked at a prior invoice from Brightview —4 months ago and we purchased 1,200 Sq of
sod at .85 a sq foot. Cost difference of .96-.85=,11 more a sq foot or $88.00 more
• Personally, I just received an estimate for St Augustine sod for 800 scl at 78 sq delivered
and installed "high premium quality sod" — $624.00 from a top-rated 5 star landscaper.
• Potential savings if priced competitively at .78 sq. is (.96-.78) .19 or $144.00 less.
o Can we do better on pricing?
o How many plants are we moving around for 30 hours (almost a week), I would like more
information on this request.
D. Delivery charge $300.00?
o What is this for -
E. Equipment Fee $150.0 1

A. Material for irrigation- "each tree will have 2 micro lets, 10 inch round box and fittings" for
$1,556.00
o An Arizona Blue Cypress "Blue Ice"- great choice in trees and it is very drought tolerant
and does not need much water. It being Florida's rainy season- we should address the
need for irrigation especially at this time of the year. I attached some reading material,
and each addresses that this tress is very drought tolerant. refer to attachment kages

o Do we really need individual tree irrigation, in the rainy season? Orlando rainy season is
from Late May to October.
o Why are we landscaping 750 feet along WS BLVD? I thought we spoke of going to
slightly before the light post, as the area beyond that was green and with mature trees.
Do we need to go 750 feet from the end of the fountains, where does Y2 of that at 375 ft
bring us?

I think of Arizona cypress as being a desert plant, although in reality it grows in an area having a

thunderstorms. To assume that such a plant would grow in a wetter climate seems unlikely, but the

"Blue Ice" Cypress is a rare cultivar of Arizona Cypress. (Like Carolina Sapphire, it must be propagated from cuttings and cannot be
grown from seed) The key word here is "BLUE!" Probably the most startling blue color of any southern conifer. Blue Ice Cypress can be
used as a privacy screen, Christmas Tree, or as a DRAMATIC focal point in the landscape. Blue Ice Cypress makes a beautiful blue
backdrop for contrasting shrubs and flowers. Hardy in zones 7 — 9. Blue Ice Cypress is more columnar than other Cypress, prefers hot
dry conditions, likes moisture but wants well drained soil, and prefers full sun. Once established, Blue Ice Cypress grows 2 1/2' — 3' per
year and reaches 30'tall or better and 8'— 10'wide. Space Blue Ice Cypress as close as 5 feet apart for a quick screen.

What Is the Difference 'in the Blue Ice Cypress &
the Carolina Sapphire Cypress .9 1 Home Guides

of year-round greenery, Arizona cypress trees (Cupressus; arizonica) are native southwestern
evergreens that are tough, easy to grow and available as a number of different cultivars. Two
varieties, called the "Blue Ice" cypress (C. arizonica "Blue Ice") and the "Carolina Sapphire"
cypress (C. arizonica var. glabra "Carlolina Sapphire"), are versatile trees with some similar
attributes but also some differences.

interest, especially on mature specimens where the trunk and large branches are visible
through the foliage. But "Carolina Sapphire" is a faster -growing tree than "Blue Iceadding 12
to 32 inches to its height each year. "Blue Ice" has a more moderate growth rate, increasing in
height by about io to 18 inches yearly. At maturity, a "Blue Ice" tree can reach a height Of 30 t*
50 feet. "Carolina Sapphire" trees tend to be slightly taller, with the smallest examples at least
40 feet tall when fully grown and large specimens well over 50 feet in height.

needles arranged in a spiral pattern, completely covering the smaller branches. Although
needles on both trees have a bluish color, those on "Carolina Sapphire" are a truer blue, wit
teal overtones, compared to those on "Blue Ice." "Blue Ice" needles are often described as
tiglaucousa botanical term that refers to a silvery gray color caused by a waxy coating. Its
needles can also be flecked with whitish spots of resin, which makes up the waxy coating.
Needles on both trees, however, are quite aromatic, especially when crushed. I
Both types of Arizona cypress trees are conifers and produce attractive cones each year. Those
on the "Carolina Sapphire" cultivar are oval -to -round in shape, appearing first in greenish -
silver color and then darkening to a reddish brown. The cones on "Blue Ice" are similarly

soil, but prefer well -drained, slightly sandy loam at neutral to slightly acidic pH, from 6.5 to

grown in especially humid locations or in soggy soil.
