REQUEST:
The City Manager requests that the City Commission enter into any discussion regarding
the status of the Commission District/Seat Three Vacancy, as they deem suitable.
SYNOPSIS:
The City Commission officially declared a Commission District/Seat Three Vacancy at the
February 26, 2018 City Commission Regular Meeting. Additionally, the City Commission
agreed to a process to fill the Commission District/Seat Three vacancy whereby applications
from qualified Commission District Three residents would be submitted to the City Clerk
by Noon on Friday, March 9th, 2018.
As to filling the Commission District/Seat Three vacancy, the City Commission agreed to
make a final decision at their March 26, 2018 City Commission Regular Meeting. In the
meantime, this Agenda Item is being provided should the City Commission wish to further
discuss the status of filling of the Commission District/Seat Three Vacancy.
CONSIDERATIONS:
At the February 26, 2018 City Commission meeting, as required by the City Charter, the
City Commission officially declared a Commission District/Seat Three Vacancy.
The City Commission agreed to a process to fill the Commission District/Seat Three
vacancy in which applications from qualified residents of Commission District Three would
be submitted to the City Clerk by Noon on Friday, March 9th, 2018.
As the Agenda for the March 12, 2018 City Commission Regular Meeting is planned to be

published Wednesday afternoon, March 7, 2018; and as the deadline for applications from
qualified residents occurs after the March 12, 2018 City Commission Agenda is sent out,
any applications that have been received and are deemed to be from qualified residents will
be placed in the Mayor's and each of the Commissioner's dropbox accounts for their review
once the March 9th deadline occurs.
The City Commission agreed to make a final decision at their March 26, 2018 City
Commission Regular Meeting. However, this Agenda Item is being provided in case
the City Commission would like to enter into any discussion regarding the status of the
Commission District/Seat Three Vacancy.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no direct fiscal impact related to the City Commission’s consideration of this
Agenda Item.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and
the City’s Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the
respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals
noted above, and which is also available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and the City’s
Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have
requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives
on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This
information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional
copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the
City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff
is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested
individuals.
Prior to this Agenda Item being published, an Official Notice of the process for accepting
applications to fill the Commission District/Seat Three Vacancy was posted on the City's
website, as well as in the Lobby of City Hall.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Commission enter into any discussion regarding the status of the
Commission District/Seat Three Vacancy as they deem suitable.
