The Community Development Department requesting City Commission authorization to
enter into an agreement with Accu - Krete, Inc. for the Concrete Sidewalk and Curb
Replacement project in the amount of $79,585.00 plus a 20% contingency.
SYNOPSIS:
This construction project consists of concrete sidewalk and curb replacement at various
locations in advance of asphalt resurfacing scheduled in the fall of 2017, plus additional
locations based on necessary sidewalk and curb repairs. This agenda item is to award
the construction contract to the lowest responsive bidder, Accu - Krete, Inc., in the amount of
$79,585 plus a 20% contingency.
CONSIDERATIONS:
. The City's annual asphalt resurfacing program is scheduled for construction in the
fall of 2017. In advance of asphalt resurfacing, Staff performs a detailed
inspection of all sidewalks and curbs along the roadway segments to be resurfaced
and identifies any sidewalk and /or curb locations needing repair or replacement.
In addition, Staff also identifies sidewalk and curb replacements at other locations
based on routine preventative maintenance inspections and resident input.
. This construction project consists of approximately 2,400 linear feet of concrete
sidewalk replacement and 425 linear feet of curb replacement at the following
locations:

. Based on Staff s review of the bids, Staff is recommending award of the
construction contract to Accu - Krete, Inc. Staff met with the representatives of
Accu - Krete, Inc. on July 14, 2017 to discuss Accu - Krete's experience, resources,
approach to the work, and their ability to complete the work on schedule. Accu-
Krete has successfully completed similar work for the City in the past.
. Construction is expected to begin in August 2017 and be completed in October
2017.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The project cost is $79,585.00 plus a 20% contingency, for a total authorization of
$95,502.00, funded by the Transportation Improvement Fund (Local Option Gas Tax), line
code 4120 -41- 0000 - 545420.
