REQUEST:
The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission about the new
and exciting 2017 Spring Event called "Explore Outdoors".
SYNOPSIS:
The 2017 Explore Outdoors event is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m.
in the Winter Springs Town Center. This year, we have incorporated the City's Arbor Day
celebration into our Spring event. Explore Outdoors will offer a variety of interests,
activities & education for the outdoor enthusiast and the backyard gardener, not forgetting
that kids just wanna have fun! Outdoors activities will include chalk art for adults & kids,
rock climbing wall, kid's fishing, kid's butterfly tent, gardening & landscaping education,
adventure cycling bikes, live music, food and business vendors.
CONSIDERATIONS:
. Combining the City's Arbor Day celebration with Spring event.
. We have contacted local businesses, community groups and local schools to bring
kids and families out to celebrate the start of Spring & encourage outdoor recreational
activities.
. Location in our town center,just east of Veteran's Memorial in grassy area behind the
Magnolia Fountain.
. Kids Rock wall, kids' butterfly tent, kids chalk art, kids fishing.
. Gardening & Landscaping educational sessions will help with tree giveaway to
residents and conservation sustainability.
. Residents will register for their tree at the event and it will be delivered to them at a
later date.
