REQUEST:
The Utility Department requests that the City Commission approve Resolution Number
2017 -01 recognizing the retirement of Lead Wastewater Operator Forrest Askew.
SYNOPSIS:
The City Commission is very appreciative of all of the employees who faithfully serve the
citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long - serving employees, the City
Commission has expressed their interest in presenting such employees with a Resolution at
a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted to the City
Commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City Commission,
the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the same City
Commission meeting during "Awards and Presentations" or attends a future City
Commission meeting to receive their Resolution. Resolution Number 2017 -01 is thus
presented to recognize the retirement of Lead Wastewater Operator Forrest Askew.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Forrest Askew began his career with the City of Winter Springs on August 13th, 1987 as a
maintenance worker. In 1996, Mr. Askew became the lead wastewater plant operator. Mr.
Askew oversaw the daily operations at both the east and west wastewater treatment
facilities.
Mr. Askew's last day with the City will be March 31, 2017. Resolution Number 2017 -01 is
being submitted as a Consent Agenda item for Commission approval. Then, during the
Awards and Presentations section of the March 27th, 2017 regular meeting, Resolution
2017 -01 will be presented to Forrest Askew in honor of his 30 years of service to the City of

Winter Springs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact if Resolution Number 2017 -01 is approved.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and
the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the
respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals
noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's
Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have
requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives
on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This
information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional
copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the
City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff
is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested
individuals.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2017 -01 in honor
of employee Forrest Askew and his 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Winter
Springs.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF WINTER
SPRINGS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING FORREST ASKEW FOR HIS 30
YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY OF
WINTER SPRINGS; AND EXPRESSING OUR APPRECIATION ON BEHALF
OF THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, FORREST ASKEW has provided the residents of Winter Springs with 30 years of dedicated
and distinguished service in the Winter Springs Utility Department; and
WHEREAS, FORREST ASKEW joined the City of Winter Springs on August 131h, 1987 as a maintenance
worker after having relocated from the New York City to Central Florida; and
WHEREAS, FORREST ASKEW became a wastewater plant operator in 1991 and continued to advance his
knowledge and skills through his career by ultimately receiving a Class A Wastewater Operator License and served as
the Lead Wastewater Operator at both the East and West plants; and
WHEREAS, FORREST ASKEW has shown great commitment and pride in working for the City of Winter
Springs for the past 30 years.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs,
Florida as follows:
SECTION I — That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs upon
the occasion of FORREST ASKEW'S retirement takes great pleasure to recognize and honor him for his uncommon
level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his employment in the Winter Springs
Information Services Department.
SECTION II — That this Resolution commending the services of FORREST ASKEW be recorded upon the
official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida.
SECTION III — That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to FORREST ASKEW with our sincerest
thanks for his many contributions.

WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, IN A REGULAR MEETING ASSEMBLED ON THE
