General Project Information
Project Title® ENHANCEMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TECHNOLOGY
Subgrant Recipient- City of Winter Springs
Implementing Agency: Winter Springs Police Department
Project to ate® 211/2017 End Date: 6/30/2017
Problem Identification
Over the last 10 years, Law Enforcement has seen a dramatic increase in technology based
applications used to improve upon an organizations ability to protect those within their
communities they serve. These advancements have come in many forms, especially with
improvements in their in-car mobile computer terminals. The technology coupled with the
advancements in mobile printing have played an integral part in many of these agencies efforts to
protect their officers by minimizing time with citizen contacts during traffic enforcement.
Currently, the Winter Springs Police Department presently equips 10 of our patrol officers with
MCT printers. These printers are extremely important to our organization for they provide our
officers with another tool to lessen the chance of serious bodily injury to either themselves or the
subject of the stop by minimizing the time of the encounter. Due to our limited budget,we are
unable to equip all of our officers with this technology all at once but understand the importance of
working towards facilitating this need moving forward.
Project Summary (Scope of Work)
If approved, the Winter Springs Police Department would utilize these grant funds to purchase
new MCT Printers and all applicable accessories such as LISS cables and power cables. These
printers would immediately be issued out to our officers as a means to reduce the officer/citizen
contact times while conducting traffic enforcement. Due to budget constraints, this transition to
MCT printers will be a two year process. If approved, the addition of these 5 new MCT printers will
allow our organization to maintain an operation readiness and provide our officers with the most
current technology available to protect all parties involved.
Documentation will consist of invoices, purchase orders, and a copy of the check issued for the
equipment.
