WREREAS, Pursuant to an Act of Congress, the United States Holocaust Memorial Council has designated
Sunday May 1St through Sunday May 8th, 2016 as Days of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust; and
WHEREAS, The history of the Holocaust provides the opportunity to reflect on the moral responsibilities of
individuals, societies, and governments and their efforts to overcome prejudice through education and
reflection; and
WHEREAS,We remember with sadness the Six Million Jews, including one and a half million children,
who were of victims of Hitler's "final solution"; and
jII HEREAS,We remember with admiration the Resistors and Rescuers, known and unknown, who risked
and lost their lives to save others; and
1914 EREAS, We remember with respect the Survivors who escaped or who were freed, and who lived to
contribute so much to our community and our world; and
WF- E!:! ;--AS,We have an obligation to ensure that the memory and legacy of lives lost or forever changed in
this horrific event are never forgotten.
NOW, THEREFOK, L CHARLES LACE Y, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, do hereby Proclaim the
day of Sunday, May 1St, 2016 in the City of Winter Springs, as
YOM HASHOAH REMEMBRANCE DAY
And, we pledge today to firmly commit ourselves to say NEVER AGAIN, and to work to promote human
dignity by confronting intolerance and hate whenever and wherever it occurs.
