REQUEST:
The Utility Department wishes to inform the City Commission of the potable and reclaimed
water use for 2016.
SYNOPSIS:
The purpose of this agenda item is to provide the City Commission with data on potable and
reclaimed water use for calendar year 2016.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Potable Water:
In 2016, the City distributed 1,333,681,000 gallons of potable water, which is a 6.5%
increase in distribution from 2015. We received 56 inches of rainfall in 2015; 12 inches less
than in 2015. The annual water use in 2016 was 19.5% below the St. Johns River Water
Management District Consumptive Use Permit allowance of 1,657,100,000 gallons. Factors
contributing to the increased water demand may include additional residential development,
such as Seven Oaks and Rize, and an increase in existing home sales.
