REQUEST:
The Parks and Recreation Department requests the Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee discuss the project updates for Central Winds Park, Trotwood Park,
and Moss Park.
CONSIDERATIONS:
• The Central Winds Road Project began in May of 2016. The project goal was to
extend Central Winds Drive and Orange Ave through Central Winds Park. The
project is over 90% complete. Speed bumps were added to the road for the
playground and pavilions to slow down drivers as they are driving through the
park. The expected completion date is the first week of February.
• The Trotwood Park Parking Lot began in July of 2016. The project included
increasing the size of the parking lot along Northern Way, paving the parking lot
next to the tennis and basketball courts, connecting the baseball parking lot to the
basketball lot, building a seat wall, and new entry sign. The project is over 98%
complete. The expected completion date is set for the end of January. The City
along with the Tuscawilla HOA will have a soft grand opening on April 2nd at 1:00
pm.
• The Parks and Recreation Department installed two new playgrounds at Moss
Park. The total cost for the playgrounds was $130,000 which included a 5-12 and
2-5 playground, mulch surfacing, ADA access, surface borders, and sod.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting that the Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee consider and discuss the project updates.
