The Utility Department requesting authorization to utilize Central Florida Lift Stations for
the replacement of the discharge piping and valves for master lift station #1 East in the
amount of $37,960.00 plus a 10% contingency.
SYNOPSIS:
This project consists of replacing the 10" suction valves, 8" plug valves, 6" check valves, 8"
shut off valves and associated piping at Master lift station #1 East which a dry pit station.
Bypass pumping will be required during the work. A lift station has two pumps that convey
wastewater collected via a gravity sewer system to the wastewater treatment facility.
CONSIDERATIONS:
This project is needed to replace the valves and piping at one of the three master wastewater
lift stations; #1 East located at the East Water Reclamation Facility.
The City owns and operates 44 lift stations throughout the City including three master lift
stations which are designated as masters due to their size and volume of flow. Lift
stations operate in a highly corrosive environment which deteriorates the components of the
lift station.

Quotes were solicited for this work and they were Central Florida Lift Stations (CFL) -
$37,960, Danus Utilities - $38,550 and USA Water - declined to quote. CFL has
satisfactorily performed lift station work for the City in the past.
No disruption of wastewater service is anticipated during this project which should be
completed one week of scheduling.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The project cost is $37,960.00 plus a 10% contingency funded by the Utility Enterprise
Fund Capital Improvements line code.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and
the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the
respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals
noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's
Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have
requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives
on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This
information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional
copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the
City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff
is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested
individuals.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Commission authorize Central Florida Lift Stations to perform
the valve and piping replacements needed at Master Lift Station #1 East in the
amount of $37,960.00 plus a 10% contingency payable
Capital Improvements line code and authorize the Cit y
prepare and execute any and all applicable documents.
