REQUEST:
The City Clerk wishes to inform the Mayor and City Commission of the results of the
November 8, 2016 City of Winter Springs' General Municipal Election.
SYNOPSIS:
The City of Winter Springs (via the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Office)
held a General Municipal Election on November 8, 2016. This Agenda Item is to
inform the Mayor and City Commission of the results of the November 8, 2016 Winter
Springs Municipal General Election.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The City of Winter Springs' held a General Municipal Election on November 8, 2016.
Prior to this Election, the City's Qualifying period ran from Noon on Monday, August
29, 2016 until Noon on Friday, September 2, 2016.
At the end of Qualifying, the following individuals were (Re)Elected Unopposed to a
four (4) year Term of Office:
Commissioner - District/Seat One: Jean Hovey
Commissioner - District/Seat Three: Pam Carroll
The November 8, 2016 General Municipal Election was held (for Winter Springs) to
determine the winner of the Commissioner - District/Seat Five race which had two (2)
Candidates who qualified to run for this Seat.

The Seminole County Supervisor of Elections should be providing Certified Results at a
later date. In the meantime, when this Agenda Item went to press, the results as shown
below are unofficial (and all that was available):
Geoff Kendrick 8,864 Votes 56.68%
Ken Spalthoff 6,774Votes 43.32%
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no Fiscal Impact to be considered with the approval of this Agenda Item.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and
the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the
respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals
noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's
Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have
requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives
on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This
information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional
copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the
City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff
is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested
individuals.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff requests the City Commission receive and review the information provided in this
Agenda Item.
