REQUEST:
The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the Commission of the
Improvements at Moss Park and an invitation to attend a soft re- opening & community
celebration on September 24, 2016 from l l am- Ipm.
SYNOPSIS:
The Parks and Recreation Department has made several park improvements at Moss Park
including a new playground with shade covers, refurbishing of light poles, painting of
bridge, seat wall and restrooms. Parking lot restriping, new signage, and added colorful
plants. A soft re- opening of the park will be on Saturday, Sept. 24 from l l am- Ipm. Action
Church will partner with us to provide hotdogs, kids games and contests, bounce houses &
free fun for everyone. There will be a quick ribbon cutting ceremony at Moss Park at l lam.
CONSIDERATIONS:
• In January 2015, City Commission approved playground equipment replacement at
Moss Park.
• Includes new equipment, shade covers, surfacing, borders, certified playground
mulch.
• Relocated and expanded the new playground facilities.
• Relocation was recommended by the Police Department for safety reasons.
• Other park improvements include the repainting of the bridge, light poles, parking lot,
restrooms and seat wall.
• New signs were done along with some sod improvements.
• Action Church is partnering up with us to provide a monthly Saturday family day at
Moss Park to encourage families & kids to be active in our parks.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Moss Park Project Improvements were completed at a cost of $148,976.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and
the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the
respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals
noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's
Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have
requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives
on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This
information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional
copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the
City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff
is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested
individuals.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff requests the City Commission receive and review the information provided in this
Agenda Item.
