REQUEST:
The Utility Department wishes to inform the City Commission of the Potable and
Reclaimed Water Use for 2013.
SYNOPSIS:
The purpose of this agenda item is to provide the City Commission with data regarding the
production of potable and reclaimed water for calendar year 2013.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Potable Water:
Potable water produced for 2013 totaled 1,299,347,000 gallons, which is a reduction
of 37,358,000 gallons from 2012. We received 45 inches of rainfall in 2013; 7 inches less
than in 2012. The annual water use in 2013 was 31% below the St. Johns River Water
Management District's Consumptive Use Permit allowance of 1,715,500,000 gallons.
Factors contributing to the decreased water demand may include the economy, empty
households, and a full time water conservation coordinator proactively assisting customers
to reduce their consumption.

increase of 4.7% from 2012. Of this total, 495,200,000 gallons were distributed for the purpose of
commercial and residential irrigation, which is a decrease of 10% from 2012. Also, 285,302,000
gallons were disposed of at the percolation ponds and/or sprayfields, which is an increase in disposal
of 32% from 2012.
