Krebs provided these documents to the City/City Clerk. IIr Q4'MROS • ose Schools Primrose School The Leader in Educational Child Care® of Waterford Lakes Commissioner Krebs 1126 East S.R. 434 Winter Springs, FL 32708 Re: Primrose Schools Commissioner Krebs, Enclosed please five (5) copies of the Primrose School brochure. It is my hope you will share the other copies to the other four commissioners. The brochure is the same for all 260+ schools around the country as we are required to follow their vision and mission statements. As we were discussing, each quarter all Primrose Schools have Helping Hands events to teach our children about the need for community involvement. (i.e. Precious Pets where we raise items for the closest local pet shelter/rescue, Og's Bountiful Books where we raise gently loved books to give to a local needy children or a place like Harbor House, etc.) We enjoy and look forward to actively participating in community events like the Fourth of July celebration. We would also love to be included in any local festivals you have. Each year when we work the events in Waterford Lakes Town Center, it is not simply an employee that shows up to "man" the booth. It is my School Director and I, so parents can really get to know us. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions. At Primrose, we see children as active learners who are trying to make sense our of the world around them. A seed, an ant, or a block — everything can be a curriculu source of inspiration and education. Our Balanced Learning°curriculum encourages this natural tendency to explore. Each classroom buzzes with activities that stimulate, develop, and support your child's sense of wonder. Also, character development is at the heart of our culture. Every day, children learn the importance of friendship, generosity, and honesty. Primrose teachers gently structure every day to fit each age group. Lively dancing or restful napping. Running around the playground or gathering round for story time. It's all about creating the right balance. Self-initiated and teacher-directed activities. Structured and unstructured play. Large group and small group discussions. At Primrose, the idea of balance extends to everything we do. The development of our Balanced Learning curriculum is based on well-researched educational theories and real classroom experiences. In addition, the curriculum is updated yearly and guided by our Education Advisory Board, a group of leading early childhood experts who make recommendations for the continuous improvement of our education and training programs. To help children grow into well-rounded individuals, daily instruction and activities span seven different learning domains or subject areas: • physical development and health • mathematics • social/emotional development • science and technology • language and literacy • social studies • creative arts and expression But we don't just exercise young minds and hearts, we provide a strong - _ foundation for a healthy lifestyle. Designed by an early childhood fitness and development expert, our Thumbs Up!® program focuses on activities that help children develop fundamental physical skills. Furthermore, a carefully 1 planned nutritious and balanced diet is an important part of the program. A smart way to illustrate a brilliant curriculum. Balance is at the heart of everything we do at Primrose Schools, including our guiding educational philosophy. Each aspect of our Balanced Learning°curriculum is carefully delivered in our daily schedule to ensure a balance of learning and play through a blend of teacher-directed and child-initiated activities. The diagram below shows how all the pieces fit and build upon one another. • The seven Learning Domains or curriculum subject areas are represented as interlocking puzzle pieces in the second ring. • Goals or Learning Outcomes and Standards (represented in the third ring) are developed for each subject area to guide instruction and curriculum design. • Teachers then use the Balanced Learning°curriculum, shown in the fourth ring, to teach children foundational skills and help them reach developmental milestones identified within each subject area. The curriculum includes: Theme-based Units of Learning, Academic Curriculum, Character Development, and Enrichment Programs. • Assessment in the outer ring represents the evaluation of children's progress in meeting identified learning goals within each subject area. Assessments are used to address learning needs of each child and to maintain the highest quality curriculum. An annual assessment shows that graduating Primrose students consistently score above average on a measure of school readiness. In addition, a recent independent system-wide survey indicated Kindergarten parents are pleased with the curriculum and believe Primrose provides a solid foundation for elementary school. In short, our curriculum produces measurable results you can believe in. Assessment v` rhee,e% c ea, G (> standards (i, v s o e S. These accreditations don't come easy. The accrediting bodies review everything from teacher training and certification to the curriculum and its delivery. They also make sure safety and health standards are carried out daily. Primrose Schools meets these stringent requirements with superlative reviews. I A teacher can have an enormous influence on a child's life. We work hard to g ensure that our staff members not only love what they do, but also meet the highest professional standards. We are a group that is passionate about nurturing young children and committed to excellence in early childhood education. I All of our staff members must pass rigorous background checks. Plus, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten teachers are required to have a college degree. With low student-to-teacher ratios, each child receives personal attention and loving care. Because we prepare our teachers to consistently implement our curriculum and programming, they have more time to focus on the needs of children in their classrooms. At Primrose, initial and ongoing training provides essential support and professional growth for our staff. Our Continual Learning Plan is just one tool we use to keep everyone up-to-date and prepared for success in the classroom. Following this plan is a big part of our accreditation because it means that everyone on the Primrose team is trained to meet the highest quality standards. This ongoing professional development includes classroom instruction, online training, and onsite training required on an annual basis. Primrose teachers are guided by highly qualified and passionately committed management teams and franchise owners who are onsite, working together to maintain our quality standards. In fact, most franchise owners were inspired by their personal experience when their own children attended a Primrose School. Our goal is for our Primrose School to be an extension of your home. Our commitment to training and supporting our teachers and their leaders means you can be assured that each individual caring for your child is prepared our staff to meet your expectation of excellence. 4 0046,, iiii, t 1 , b. \ AP 0% , . ,. aPrimroseschools.com Ell I OSe", kir Sell c ,,,1„,,,„:,„„,,,,,,,(-hill ..° ,L jPrimrose School i Mrs.Smith! at Benht ater Stake is having a great {, -... today our`el heme is Birds Iat sets a ndt. _.:... -_" ass enjoyed secyn WO ►!
