HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013 09 09 Consent 204 Resolution 2013-23, Appreciation to Laura Leigh Wood as a former member of the Code Enforcement Board COMMISSION AGENDA Informational Consent X ITEM 204 public Hearings g Regular September 09, 2013 KS ALLL Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: The City Clerk requests that the City Commission review and approve Resolution Number 2013-23 offering their appreciation and gratitude for the service of Ms. Laura-Leigh Wood as a recent Member of the Code Enforcement Board. SYNOPSIS: The City Commission has many Board and Committee Members, and is very appreciative of the service they provide to the City, to the City Commission, and to Staff. Thus, when a Board or Committee Member resigns or their Term of Service ends or when a Board/Committee is sunsetted, the Mayor and City Commission have noted their desire to show their Gratitude to these Board/Committee Members. Therefore, in each case of a Board or Committee Member resigning their position, or they have reached the allowable number of years of Service, or when a Board/Committee is sunsetted, the City Commission is requested to Approve a Resolution of Appreciation. Accordingly, Resolution 2013-23 is presented herein in honor of Ms. Wood's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs and to the City Commission as a valued Member of the City's Code Enforcement Board. Upon Approval by the City Commission, Ms. Wood will be contacted by the City Clerk and asked to attend a future City Commission Regular Meeting to personally receive her Resolution of Appreciation from the Mayor and City Commission. Whatever date is agreed upon for the Presentation of the Resolution, the Presentation is then noticed on the applicable Agenda, under"Awards and Presentations". Consent 204 PAGE 1 OF 2-September 09,2013 CONSIDERATIONS: Ms. Laura-Leigh Wood was Appointed to the Code Enforcement Board on May 29, 2007 by Commissioner Joanne M. Krebs. Recently, Ms. Wood resigned from the Code Enforcement Board. Resolution 2013-23 has been written in honor of Ms. Wood's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs and to the City Commission as a valued Member of the City's Code Enforcement Board. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact related to Resolution Number 2013-23, if this Resolution is Approved. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will contact Ms. Wood on behalf of the Mayor and City Commission, in keeping with what the City Commission has previously requested, and invite Ms. Wood to attend a future City Commission meeting to receive her Resolution in person, from the Mayor and City Commission. RECOMMENDATION: The City Clerk is requesting that the City Commission review and Approve Resolution Number 2013-23. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will then contact Ms. Wood on behalf of Mayor Lacey and the City Commission regarding an official Presentation in her honor by the Mayor and City Commission. WHE AS, LAU -LEIGH WOOD has perfo ed an outstanding service to the public by representing the City of Winter Springs on the Code Enforcement Board since being Appointed on May 29, 2007; and REAS, the work and efforts of LAU* -LEIGH WOOD has greatly benefited her neighbors and the residents of Winter Springs; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, wish to express their appreciation and acknowledgement on behalf of the citizens of Winter Springs and to commend LAU -LEIGH WOOD for her conscientious and faithful service. NOW THE FORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida that: SECTION L - That this Resolution of Appreciation for the service of LAURA-LEIGH WOOD be recorded upon the Public Records and Minutes of said City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida.
