HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013 01 14 Regular 602 Alternate Member of RPA COMMISSION AGENDA     Informational Consent ITEM602 Public Hearings Regular X       January 14, 2013KSRS Regular MeetingCity ManagerDepartment         REQUEST: The Community Development Department is requesting that the City Commission appoint an alternate member for the Redevelopment Planning Agency (RPA), a group of elected officials from the members of the 17-92 Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)     SYNOPSIS: The RPA is an advisory group to the CRA that reviews grant applications that are submitted to the CRA.  The City Commission has appointed Commissioner Pam Carroll to the RPA.  This request is for the Commission to appoint an alternate member to serve when and if Commissioner Carroll (the current RPA member) is unable to attend a scheduled meeting. CONSIDERATIONS: The RPA meets approximately once each month, dependant upon the number of applications for funding, to review the recommendations of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC).  Community Development staff serve as members of the TAC as well as technical advisors to the RPA.  The TAC provides a staff-level review synopsis and recommendation to the RPA.  The RPA reviews all applicable information from the TAC and the applicant and makes a recommendation to the CRA Board (County Commission) for final action. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this agenda item. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: Regular 602 PAGE 1 OF 2 - January 14, 2013 This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and the City’s Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and the City’s Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals.   RECOMMENDATION: The Community Development Department recommends that the City Commission appoint an alternate member to the RPA.
