SYNOPSIS: On November 6, 2012, the City of Winter Springs' held a General Municipal Election and this Agenda Item is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of the results of the November 6, 2012 Municipal General Election. CONSIDERATIONS: The City of Winter Springs' held a General Municipal Election On November 6, 2012. Prior to this Election, the City's Qualifying period ran from Noon on Monday, August 27, 2012 until Noon on Friday, August 31, 2012, At the end of Qualifying, the following individuals were Elected Unopposed to a four (4) year Term of Office: Commissioner—District One: Commissioner Jean Hovey Commissioner—District Five: Commissioner Joanne M. Krebs The November 6, 2012 General Municipal Election was held to determine the winner of the Seat Three Race which had three (3) Candidates who had qualified to run for this Seat. The below excerpt is from the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Office and when this Agenda Item went to press, the results were still unofficial: Informational 103 PAGE 1 OF 2-November 19,2012 WNTR SPRNGS COMM DIST 3 Vote for: 1 Votes • Pam Carroll 6,930 46.96 ▪ Phil Kaprow 3,619 24.52 Avery Smith 4,209 28.52 14,758 100.00% The Seminole County Supervisor of Elections expects to provide Certified Results at a later date, and those Certified results will be forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission. In the meantime, a copy of the "Unofficial Results" are attached. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no Fiscal Impact to be considered with the approval of this Agenda Item. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. RECOMMENDATION: Staff requests the City Commission receive and review the information provided in this Agenda Item.
