Member Alice Bard COMMISSION AGENDA Informational Consent X ITEM 206 Public Hearings g Regular October 08, 2012 KS ALLL Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: The City Clerk requests that the City Commission review and approve Resolution Number 2012-21 offering their Appreciation and gratitude for the service of Ms. Alice Bard as a recent Member of the Beautification of Winter Springs Board. SYNOPSIS: The City Commission has many Board and Committee Members, and is very appreciative of the service they provide to the City, to the City Commission, and to Staff. Thus, when a Board or Committee Member resigns or their Term of Service ends or when a Board/Committee is sunsetted, the City Commission has noted their desire to show their Gratitude to these Board/Committee Members. Therefore, in each case of a Board or Committee Member resigning their position, or they have reached the allowable number of years of Service, or when a Board/Committee is sunsetted, the City Commission is requested to Approve a Resolution of Appreciation. Upon Approval by the City Commission, the applicable Board or Committee Member is then contacted by the City Clerk and asked to attend a future City Commission Regular Meeting to personally receive their Resolution of Appreciation from the Mayor and City Commission. Whatever date is agreed upon for the Presentation of the Resolution, the Presentation is then noticed on the applicable Agenda, under "Awards and Presentations". CONSIDERATIONS: Ms. Alice Bard was first Appointed to the Beautification of Winter Springs Board on December 6, 1999 by former Deputy Mayor Cindy Gennell, Seat Four. Consent 206 PAGE 1 OF 2-October 08,2012 Recently, Ms. Bard's Term of Office on the Beautification of Winter Springs Board expired pursuant to Ordinance Number 2010-14. (Ms. Bard's Term of Office expired before the Beautification of Winter Springs Board was recently sunsetted.) Resolution 2012-21 has been written in honor of Ms. Bard's dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs and to the City Commission as a valued Member of the City's Beautification of Winter Springs Board. Also of interest, Ms. Bard is also one of our longest serving Board/Committee members in recent time. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact related to Resolution Number 2012-21, if this Resolution is Approved. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will contact Ms. Bard on behalf of the Mayor and City Commission, in keeping with what the City Commission has previously requested, and invite Ms. Bard to attend a future City Commission meeting to receive her Resolution in person, from the Mayor and City Commission. RECOMMENDATION: The City Clerk is requesting that the City Commission review and Approve Resolution Number 2012-21. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will then contact Ms. Bard on behalf of Mayor Lacey and the City Commission regarding an official Presentation in her honor by the Mayor and City Commission. ATTACHMENTS: "A"—City of Winter Springs' Resolution Number 2012-21 Consent 206 PAGE 2 OF 2-October 08,2012 ATTACHMENT 'A' RESOLUTION NUMBER 2012-21 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO ALICE BARD FOR HER SERVICE ON THE BEAUTIFICATION OF WINTER SPRINGS BOARD. WHEREAS, ALICE BARD has performed an outstanding service to the public by representing the City of Winter Springs on the Beautification of Winter Springs Board since being Appointed on December 6, 1999; and WHEREAS, the work and efforts of ALICE BARD has greatly benefited her neighbors and the residents of Winter Springs; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, wish to express their appreciation and acknowledgement on behalf of the citizens of Winter Springs and to commend ALICE BARD for her conscientious and faithful service. Now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida that: SECTION I. — That this Resolution of Appreciation for the service of ALICE BARD be recorded upon the Public Records and Minutes of said City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida. SECTION IL - That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to ALICE BARD with our heartfelt thanks for a job well done!
