HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 09 24 Informational 101 Hometown HarvestCOMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 101 Informational X Consent Public Hearings Regular September 24, 2012 KS CC Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission about planning efforts for the 2012 Hometown Harvest event. SYNOPSIS: The Winter Springs 8th Annual Hometown Harvest will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 5:00- 9:00pm on North Tuscawilla Road to Blumberg Blvd in the Winter Springs Town Center. CONSIDERATIONS: • Since August 2nd The City of Winter Springs Special Event ICS has been meeting to plan this year's Hometown Harvest Event. • Post event evaluation from 2011 was reviewed and considerations were given to any improvements that were recommended. • The event will include live entertainment with Ennis Pruitt and Straight Deal. Other special guests include our own Senior Line Dancers. Family & Kids activities include Musical Hayride, Chick -Fil -A Kids Zone, Pumpkin Painting by Plaster House, Face Painters, and lots of great food vendors. • The Hope Food Pantry will also be on hand to collect non - perishable food items for those in need. • Current Community Business Partnerships include: Waste Pro, Progress Energy, Tijuana Flats, Herba Family Chiropractic, Remax Town and Country, Modern Plumbing, & The Music Box. Informational 101 PAGE 1 OF 2 - September 24, 2012 FISCAL IMPACT: • In 2011, the Hometown Harvest event had final expenditures totaling $5,083, and final revenues totaling $6,050. • Staff has conducted a thorough evaluation of the budget and is proposing expenses for 2012 of $4,156. (Attachment 91). • Current projection for revenues from sponsorship and vendor booths for 2012 total $5,500. • Thus, projected Net revenue for the 2012 event is $1,344. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations /Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. Promotional efforts related to the 2012 Hometown Harvest event include the City Newsletter, City website, City Hall electronic sign, e- Alerts, WS /Oviedo Chamber website, WS Life, Seminole Chronicle, Seminole Voice, and CF News 13 Community Calendar. RECOMMENDATION: Staff requests the City Commission receive and review the information provided in this Agenda Item.
