RE:The brick wall adjacent to Tuscawilla Units 12 and 12A
Dear Commission Members,
On Thursday, May 10, 2012 the Tuscawilla Homeowner's Association Board of Directors assessed the
various options under consideration by the City of Winter Springs in addressing the structural problems
associated with the wall that is adjacent to Units 12 and 12A. After due consideration,the board
directed the president to present the following arguments in support of Option 2A:
1) Given that a majority of the wall is located on city property and that the city did allow for the
construction of the wall in its present location,there is an obligation for the city to contribute to the
solution of the problem. To vacate the right of way would be irresponsible.
2) Given that the wall is located next to two major roadways [Winter Springs Boulevard and Northern
Way],the demolition option would have a detrimental impact on property values within the entire
community.
3) Should the wall be removed and individual fences of various shapes and styles installed,the
appearance of this portion of our community will become an eyesore.
4) If the city takes responsibility for the portion of the wall located on the right of way and,therefore,
realizes the$32,000 expense necessary for demolition,the solution represented in Option 2A is logical
and fair to the residents.
5) As there are no homeowners associations currently in place for Units 12 or 12A,these citizens must
rely upon the city officials to provide leadership and guidance for solving this problem.
6) It should be noted that the citizens residing in Unit 12 have made inquiries to city officials over the
years regarding the maintenance of the wall in an effort to determine a viable solution.
