SYNOPSIS: The purpose of this item is to inform the City Commission regarding the results of the 2012 Scottish Highland Games Special Event. CONSIDERATIONS: • This year the Scottish American Society of Central Florida conducted its 35 Annual Scottish Highland Games at Central Winds Park over 2 days (Saturday and Sunday). • The event organizer commented that this year's event was the most successful Highland Games held in Winter Springs. • Attendance of 20 -25K was estimated. • City received an additional $3,000 from the Scottish American Society for community events. • City received rental fees of $6,000 for the event as per contract. • All City Departments worked together to provide excellent service to our Scottish partners, vendors, rental companies to assist with set up & clean up of event. • Post event evaluation meeting was held on January 26, 2012 with City officials. City departments demonstrated excellent teamwork and cooperation assisting the event organizer. • The Scottish American Society has signed a three year agreement with the City. • Next year's Scottish Highland Games will be on January 19 -20, 2013. Informational 101 PAGE 1 OF 2 - February 13, 2012 FISCAL IMPACT: Scottish Highland Games on Saturday /Sunday (January 15 & 16 Parks: No costs Public Works: No costs Fire Department (Fire Inspection): Paid by Event Applicant Police: Paid by the Event Applicant Event Permit: Paid by the Event Applicant Total Cost of the Scottish Highland Games to City: $0 COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney /Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations /Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals.
