SYNOPSIS: The City of Winter Springs (via the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Office) held a General Municipal Election on November 6, 2018. This Agenda Item is to inform the Mayor and City Commission of the results of the November 6, 2018 Winter Springs General Municipal Election. CONSIDERATIONS: As noted in the Winter Springs Charter: Section 4.03. - Election and terms. (a) The regular election of mayor and commissioners shall be held at the time provided for in -Section -8.01 of this Charter. All elections shall be for four-vear terms of office.* mm The terms of the mavor and commissioner shall begin at the next scheduled regular or special meeting of the city commission of each vear an election is held, and its members shall serve until their successors have taken office. This year, the following Seats were up for Election [for a four (4) year Term of Office]: . Mayor: Currently held by Mayor Charles Lacey . Seat Two: Currently held by Commissioner Kevin Cannon . Seat Four: Currently held by Commissioner Jack Hays Informational 201 PAGE 1 OF 3 - November 19, 2018 *Additionally this year, the following Seat was up for Election [for the completion of a two (2) year Term of Office]: Seat Three: Currently held by Commissioner Ken Greenberg The Seminole County Supervisor of Elections should be providing Certified Results at a later date. In the meantime, when this Agenda Item went to publication, the results as shown below were "unofficial" (which was all that was available): MAYOR: (4 YEAR TERM) Charles Lacey 9,143 Votes 56.99% Ken Spalthoff 6,899 Votes 43.01% COMMISSIONER SEAT TWO: (4 YEAR TERM) Vicki Anderson-Ferrin 6,757 Votes 42.42% Kevin Cannon 9,170 Votes 57.58% COMMISSIONER SEAT FOUR: (4 YEAR TERM) TiAnna Hale 8,166 Votes 52.94% Jack Hays 7,259 Votes 47.06% COMMISSIONER SEAT THREE: (2 YEAR TERM) Ken Greenberg 7,291 Votes 46.49% Ted Johnson 8,393 Votes 53.51% FISCAL IMPACT: There is no Fiscal Impact related to the approval of this Agenda Item. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at six (6) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. RECOMMENDATION: Staff requests the City Commission receive and review the information provided in this Informational 201 PAGE 2 OF 3 - November 19, 2018 Agenda Item. ATTACHMENTS: None.
