SYNOPSIS: The police department has begun phasing out old MCTs (Mobile Computer Terminals) used by police officers for the performance of their duties. We have already completed the purchase of ten (10) new Panasonic Toughbook units, a semi-rugged machine built for environmental conditions officers experience daily. This purchase will help us phase out our old Dell machines, includes a five year warranty, and premier setup services to ensure the units are properly functioning prior to delivery. CONSIDERATIONS: The police department has begun transitioning our laptop computers from the Dell units purchased in 2009 to the more rugged Panasonic Toughbook. These units are more suited for the environment police officers are in on a daily basis and hold up will in the summer heat. During FY16, we budgeted funds for the purchase of twenty (20) additional units. We would like to make this purchase now to help our replacement schedule move forward since the Dell units are in the last stages of their useful life. During the quote process, we received three separate responses from three vendors - GovDirect ($61,120.20), TKK Electronics ($64360), and TRL ($66,864.62). GovDirect was the least expensive, includes a warranty and premier setup services and we request consent to use them. Consent 302 PAGE 1 OF 2-September 28,2015 FISCAL IMPACT: Funding will come from the $64,700 budgeted in FY16 funds and will not be requested until October 01, 2015. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals.
