HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016 04 11 Consent 303 Acceptance of a Donation from the Scottish American Society of Central Florida COMMISSION AGENDA Informational Consent X ITEM 303 public Hearings g Regular April 11, 2016 KS KB Regular Meeting City Manager Department REQUEST: The Police Department requests that the Commission accept a cash donation from the Scottish American Society of Central Florida in the amount of$500 to help defray the cost associated with Incident Command Trailer. SYNOPSIS: The Scottish American Society of Central Florida has graciously donated $500 to help defray the cost associated with an Incident Command Trailer. Staff is requesting the Commission's approval to accept this donation and apply the amount towards the purchase of the Incident Command Trailer. CONSIDERATIONS: The Police Department filed for and received residual grant funds in the amount of$50,000 from the State of Florida to purchase an Incident Command Trailer. This trailer is equipped to handle planned and unplanned events throughout the City. Part of the planned events would be the annual Scottish Highland games that are held in Central Winds Park. This event draws an enormous crowd which also constitutes a large police presence. Incident planning coupled with command and control is paramount when this takes place. The Scottish American Society of Central Florida recognizes the need for such a plan and has contributed by making a cash donation in the amount of $500 to offset some of the cost associated with the Incident Command Trailer. FISCAL IMPACT: There will be no cost impact to the General Fund. Conversely a positive impact will be realized in the General Fund by accepting this donation. There are no matching funds Consent 303 PAGE 1 OF 2-April 11,2016 required of the City for this acceptance. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals noted above, and which is also available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner's Associations/Representatives on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested individuals. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Commission accept the donation from the Scottish American Society of Central Florida to be utilized to defray the cost of the Incident Command Trailer.
