HomeMy WebLinkAboutPat Lombardi Apology Dear Mr. , Mrs. & Familys May I take one more minute of your time to apologize for the recent news letter in which I offended 'some by the reference to dog defecation in a 4 letter word . The fact that it was very late at night and I was more than busy trying to get away on my vacation is no excuse. Inconsideration of tng-; fact that many residents of Winter Springs have been raised in a class where this word is not used is inexcusable on my part and I truly regret not rereading it and forseeing that it might offend people. What I was busy trying to get across was the type problems being incurred by residents not to antagason&ze them. As to the compl4it that I used the letter for my personal gripe I do not apologize - the topics were known in advance to the board members but of course the wording was mine and the Women's Club nor Joan Cestaro bare any blame . As for the reason I was not available when the letter came out I announced over a month ago at our meeting I was leaving for Alabama and I did not sign it because there was no room at the bottom but I have written 99% of the newsletter distributed in Winter Springs in the past year and one half and there were many that were not signed , but I thought that al- most everyone knew I did the written part of the letters. The letter was completed by me several days before my leaving but the person assigned to pick up the letter was not able to get it from the printers until 3 days after I was gone. Now I understand that many more complaints have been lodged as to my spending the clubs money - it was only spent for activities run and approved of by the club - if people felt like I was trying to get too much done all anyone had to do was say so. Many feel like I ran the club as a one man show - well I asked and asked for help in letters and at meetings and got very very few but no one complained about all my money spent running to printers , takeing the teens for pizza and cokes after bowling, taking the kids roller skating and putting out newsletters to get the club started when the club had no money. I wanted a lot for the kids because I think basically we have a great group of kids out here who deserve. attention and activitities. Because of the friction now caused and the misunderstanding between us I will step down from program chairwomen and see if that is the problem - it would be a shame to stop a good idea because of one person. I am sorry that I hurt so many people with my lexicon. I am more sorry that no one thought to simply comment and ask me to refrain from such problems but instead gossiped , slandered my husband , blamed an entire organization, treatened my home and then were very nice and suggested that I be allowed to still be a member. Thank you - f I was inconsiderate in my letter and I should have been reprimanded but I do not consider slander right or appropirate for the deed or misdeed and a public apology is what I. should have been asked to do - but no one has asked for that yet. But I feel it is my responsibility to pay for the last letter and this one of apology to make sure that if at all possible the residents do not blame the women's club as an organization for my behavior. I do a lot and I make a lot of mistakes but if I learn from them maybe the club will too. Regretfully, Pat Lombardi FINAL NOTICE If there is not a better turn out and more participation at the activities organized by the Women's Club we will stop putting our time and money into running them until such times as you indicate you tie want them bad enough to put some of your own effort into them. We talk to the kids and they want to contiue fishing, skating, bowling etc. but when we ask them why they didn' t go their parents forgot to tell them about the notice, their folks couldn' t or wouldn' t take them, we even made arrangements for the boys to have "foster fathers" for the fish day and even then it seems you were to busy to call and tell us your boys needed someone to go with. We had rod and reels and prizes for everyone , we spent an average of $15 on our activities and we put out a notice each time yet parents come up to the dances etc. asking what they should have brought with them, what age when will the kids he home all of which was sent to them but until their children wanted to go with someone who told them about it the parents had ,not bothered to he inform- ed that it was even going on in the neighborhood . What makes it worst for me to understand is that we do not charge for these activities and while the dues are a whole $2. 00 a year we have a total paid membership of l( ! MOTORBIKES ETC. - we are asking the Winter Springs Police and the Seminole Sheriff to patrol are area and specifically to stop all motor driven bikes that are not probably registered , licensed and being rode by a licensed and properly gear,d driver. :neck the laws if your child has a motor bike of any type make sure he knows and obeys the laws before you get in trouble. Dogs - Love your dog and love your neighbor. We have had four incidents at bus stops in the morning with dogs following children to the bus. PLEASE before someone ( or a dog) gets hurt Keep your dogs home at the very least until the children are on the buses. I would strongly suggest you keep your dogs at home all the time. Several people out here now are useing B B Guns on dogs on their land , for which I do not blame them, if I wanted a dog I would have one of my own. I do not appreciate my garbage being spread all over my yard , nor my son comiing in the house with shit on his shoes , nor dogs barking under my windows wakeing the baby.
