They also help build a sense of community and belongingness while increasing sales for local merchants. Description: This proposal is based upon the very successful market offered each Saturday near the old train station in downtown Winter Park. It has been held for years and draws people from all over the Central Florida area. Vendors occupy selling spaces in increments of approximately eight feet. Size of the booth is determined by product offerings and other criteria determined by market management. Products to be offered: Fresh produce, plants, and other Kenn produced locally and/or marketed by local firms. Each vendor must be fully self-sufficient - they must supply their own shopping bags, change, etc. They must also bring any display tables, awnings, etc. A management team would help determine the mix of vendors and merchandise. The management team would be composed of representatives of the city and community at large. Timing: Once each month on a Saturday morning; 9am to fpm. Set-up would begin at lam, and tear- down/cleanup must be complete by 4pm. Pricing: Minimal space cost to vendors at the beginning to encourage participation and a variety of available merchandise. Place: Winter Springs Town Center Resources: - OF /IFAS County Extension Office -Local growers' associations - Crafts associations Involvement from the City: - Traffic control - Security -Use of existing publicity vehicles (newsletters, etc.) - Buckslips in water bills -On -site signage -One or more representatives to sit on the management board - Possible help with cleanup Possible Future Additions: - Entertainment by local adult or children's groups. -A general theme for each north's market - based on the season or holidays. This would help to keep the market and merchandise offered interesting - giving consumers an additional reason to attend and return.
