REQUEST:
Utility Department Requesting Approval to Piggyback off the Florida Sheriff's Association
Bid Award 11-19-0907, Spec #83, for the purchase of one(1) 56KW Generator.
SYNOPSIS:
The purpose of this Agenda Item is to request approval for the purchase of one (1) 56KW
Generator from Tradewinds Power Corporation at a cost of $35,856.00 to be permanently
installed at Lift Station #3 West - 600 Sheoah Boulevard in the Highlands.
CONSIDERATIONS:
This item is needed to continue the plan to provide permanent emergency power at key
wastewater lift stations throughout the City. The Utility Dept. Budgeted for one (1)
stationary generator to be purchased this year which will be the 6th lift station generator at a
fixed location. There are currently 43 lift stations owned and operated by the City.
This generator will be installed at LS#3W which is on Sheoah Boulevard near
the bridge. This is a high priority lift station due to the volume of wastewater that this
station conveys. Upon loss of power, the generator will automatically start up and switch to
emergency power.
The Florida Sheriff's Association has already bid this item under Bid #11-19-0907 for a
total cost of $35,856.00.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$43,000 is budgeted and is available under Utility line code #3600-64000.

COMMUNICATION EFFORTS:
This Agenda Item has been electronically forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission,
City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, and is available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and
the City’s Server. Additionally, portions of this Agenda Item are typed verbatim on the
respective Meeting Agenda which has also been electronically forwarded to the individuals
noted above, and which is also available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and the City’s
Server; has been sent to applicable City Staff, Media/Press Representatives who have
requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives
on file with the City, and all individuals who have requested such information. This
information has also been posted outside City Hall, posted inside City Hall with additional
copies available for the General Public, and posted at five (5) different locations around the
City. Furthermore, this information is also available to any individual requestors. City Staff
is always willing to discuss this Agenda Item or any Agenda Item with any interested
individuals.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that approval be granted to piggyback off Florida Sheriff's Association
bid #11-19-0907, spec #83, for the purchase of one (1) 56 KW generator from Tradewinds
Power Corp. for a total cost of $35,856.00 payable from Utility line code 3600-64000.
