PROCLAMATION ti g o4 ,‘,.4„.„4„,4 P OFFICE OF THE MAYOR Z <O ' 4 , • WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA 1(HEREAS, On October 24 1971, Dr. Luis Perez of Sanford, Florida and a group of concerned citizens who considered that a strong family was the way to address the growing problem of substance abuse, founded the Drug Action Committee of Seminole County; and 1(HEREAS, Those early efforts led to "The Grove Counseling Center, Inc. ", and today, with its current fifty very dedicated employees, which include highly regarded and skilled Psychiatrists, Licensed Therapists, Masters -Level Therapists, Nurses and support professionals, "The Grove Counseling Center, Inc." has just celebrated its 40 Anniversary of empowering area youth, strengthening family bonds, and turning around many lives; and W HEREAS, "The Grove Counseling Center, Inc." is honored to have a distinguished Board of Directors overseeing the direction of this fine organization and its many successes in the community; and W HEREAS, Expertly guiding the staff of "The Grove Counseling Center, Inc." is Mr. Larry A. Birch, Outgoing President; and Ms. Jennifer L. Small, Current Executive Director /CEO and Incoming President - who with their colleagues, are unconditionally committed to providing helpful information and direction to members of the community; while also offering numerous forms of outreach and prevention programs to assist area youth and their families to help shape more healthy lifestyles; and 1(HEREAS, "The Grove Counseling Center, Inc." offers two main operations: their Outpatient Programs which provide adult and adolescent standard and intensive counseling services, adolescent anger management courses, Tobacco 411, drug screenings, and Seminole County Adolescent Drug Court; and The Grove Academy which is a voluntary residential program that addresses the physical, psychological, and social needs of adolescents with serious alcohol or drug problems and helps them build a foundation for long -term recovery; and HEREAS, For forty years, "The Grove Counseling Center, Inc." has offered prevention, intervention, and treatment for behavioral health and substance use disorders through outpatient and intensive outpatient programs, residential treatment, and prevention programs which operate out of Seminole County Public Schools; with outreach efforts helping individuals and families throughout Seminole, Brevard, Orange and Osceola Counties. Now THEREFORE, I, CHARLES LACEY, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs do hereby Proclaim November 2011 in honor of "The Grove Counseling Center, Inc.
