Authorization REQUEST: ThePolice Department requests Commission approval to utilize Law Enforcement Supply Company via existing State Contract pricing to expend $2,900.00 from the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund for the purchase of protective ballistic vests for newly hired officers. ______ SYNOPSIS: The Police Department requests to seek consent of the Commission to approve the expenditure of $2,900.00 from the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund for the purchase of protective ballistic vests from Law Enforcement Supply Company by piggy backing off of the existing Florida State Contract. CONSIDERATIONS: The Police Department as a result of hiring several new officers is requesting the approval to utilize the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund to purchase five (5) protective ballistic vests for the newly hired police officers. These vests are individually fitted and sized to these officers. City Commission – Regular Meeting October 24, 2011 Consent Agenda Item #201 Page 2of 3 FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for the purchases of this equipment will come from the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund monies totally $2,900.00 and will have no impact on the General Fund budget. As of October 18, 2011 there was a current balance of $36,416.48 in the Federal fund. COMMUNICATIONS EFFORTS: This Agenda Item Has Been Electronically Forwarded To The Mayor And City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, And Is Available On The City’s Website, LaserFiche, And The City’s Server. Additionally, Portions Of This Agenda Item Are Typed Verbatim On The Respective Meeting Agenda Which Has Also Been Electronically Forwarded To The Individuals Noted Above, And Which Is Also Available On The City’s Website, LaserFiche, And The City’s Server; Has Been Sent To Applicable City Staff, eAlert/eCitizen Recipients, Media/Press Representatives Who Have Requested Agendas/Agenda Item Information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives On File With The City, And All Individuals Who Have Requested Such Information. This Information Has Also Been Posted Outside City Hall, Posted Inside City Hall With Additional Copies Available For The General Public, And Posted At Five (5) Different Locations Around The City. Furthermore, This Information Is Also Available To Any Individual Requestors. City Staff Is Always Willing To Discuss This Agenda Item Or Any Agenda Item With Any Interested Individuals. RECOMMENDATIONS: The Police Department recommends the Commission approve the expenditure of $2,900.00 from the Federal Asset Forfeiture Trust Fund and to utilize Law Enforcement Supply Company by piggy backing off of the existing Florida State Contract.
