Even in tough economic times we have been successful using our resources to transform our system of care through collaboration that didn't exist before. - The Village - Family Connections - Pathways to Home Current Priorities • To Strengthen Families and Communities to reduce child abuse and increase adoptions. • Create Stable Housing so children have a home. • Develop Quality Affordable Child Care so children are ready to learn • Establish a Legislative Forum to educate our leaders and advocate for change. , 5/16/2011 Families And Communities Together (F.A.C.T.S.) Background: • Collaborative effort between Seminole County Government, The Cabinet and CBC of Central Florida • One of 9 sites selected nation -wide this year - Within the past 20 years over 150 awards, 8 in Florida • Six Years -9 million dollars funded by SAMHSA e � 5/16/2011 Roles: • Seminole County is Grantee • Children's Cabinet is governance body • CBC of Central Florida is sub recipient Goals - To reorganize and strengthen Children's Mental Health system and services; reduce deep end placements - Give families a "voice and choice" in the system transformation and service provision - Serve as catalyst for sustainable systemic change 3 5/16/2011 pplipW , How will we do this? • Ensure youth and families are partners in system design and drive their treatment • Develop a integrated advisory and governance structure • Increase accessibility to services • Identification and Implementation of Evidenced Practices • Workforce development Fr* , Si .......,-'_ How is the initiative funded ? • Money to support this funding comes from the SAMHSA office AND has a required local match component that increases during the life of the grant period. 6 5/16/2011 a' How is the initiative funded ? • Years 1, 2 and 3 at least $1 for each $3 of Federal funds; • Year 4 at least $1 for each $1 of Federal funds • Year 5 and 6, at least $2 for each $1 of Federal funds. What can we do with the funding ? • Infrastructure development • Development of community based mental health and support services that address the clinical and functional needs of the children, youth and families • Mental health services (other than residential or inpatient facilities with ten or more beds) 5/16/2011 What can't we do with the funding ? • Funds from this program cannot be used to finance non - mental health services , r r By the end of the grant in 2016 • The System of Care for Children's Mental Health will: - Be easier to navigate and access care - Have an Integrated advisory and governance structure - Service needs will drive funding - Families and youth will drive services provided and the quality of care.
