HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011 05 09 Informational 103 Golf Course Usage COMMISSION AGENDA X CONSENT INFORMATIONAL ITEM 103 PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR KSKL MGR /DEPT May 9, 2011 Meeting Authorization st REQUEST: Utility Department Reporting to the Commission the Completion of the 1 Year of the Bulk Reclaimed Water Agreement with Tuscawilla Country Club SYNOPSIS: The purpose of this agenda item is to inform the City Commission of the usage and st charges that occurred during the 1 year of the Bulk Reclaimed Water Agreement with Tuscawilla Country Club. CONSIDERATIONS: The City Commission approved a Bulk Reclaimed Water Agreement with Tuscawilla Country Club on March 22, 2011. This agreement completed the transition from the City subsidizing golf course costs associated with irrigation to the City receiving revenue for reclaimed water usage. In order for the golf course to be able to absorb the new costs for reclaimed water, the agreement allowed the costs to be phased in over a three year period beginning April 1, 2010. The first year of the agreement has been completed and the charges for reclaimed usage to the golf course were $23,561.50 less a credit of $4,313.52 for well usage bringing $19,247.98 the net reclaimed water charges to . On April 1, 2011 the charges for reclaimed water increased from $0.18 per thousand gallons to $0.36 per thousand gallons, and the well credit increased from $0.54 per thousand gallons to $1.08 per thousand gallons. st The average reclaimed usage for the 1 year of the agreement was 283,000 gallons per day. This is slightly higher than the annual average daily flow for the last three years of 273,000, 279,000 and 283,000 gallons. City Commission – Regular Meeting May 9, 2011 Informational Agenda Item #103 Page 2 of 2 FISCAL IMPACT: The Bulk Reclaimed Water Agreement with Tuscawilla Country Club provided new revenues of $19,247.98 in the first year. The estimated first year revenues were $14,900, however, reclaimed usage was up slightly and the well usage credit was significantly down from the original estimates. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item Has Been Electronically Forwarded To The Mayor And City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney/Staff, And All eAlert/eCitizen Recipients; And Is Available On The City’s Website, LaserFiche, And The City’s Server. Additionally, Portions Of This Agenda Item Are Typed Verbatim On The Respective Meeting Agenda Which Has Also Been Electronically Forwarded To The Individuals Noted Above; And Which Is Also Available On The City’s Website, LaserFiche, And The City’s Server; Has Been Sent To City Staff, Media/Press Representatives Who Have Requested Agendas/Agenda Item Information, Homeowner’s Associations/Representatives On File With The City, And All Individuals Who Have Requested Such Information; And Has Been Posted Outside City Hall; Posted Inside City Hall With Additional Copies Available For The General Public; And Posted At Five (5) Different Locations Around The City. This Agenda Item Is Also Available To Any New Individual Requestors. City Staff Is Always Willing To Discuss This Or Any Agenda Item With Any Interested Individuals.
