March 28, 2011 Authorization Regular Meeting REQUEST: The Utility/Public Works Department requests that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2011-10 recognizing the retirement of Utility Department employee Richard Brookover SYNOPSIS: The City Commission is very appreciative of all of the employees who faithfully serve the citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long-serving employees, the City Commission has expressed their interest in presenting such employees with a Resolution at a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted to the City Commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City Commission, the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the same City Commission meeting during “Awards and Presentations” or attends a future City . Commission meeting to receive their Resolution CONSIDERATIONS: Utility Department Maintenance Mechanic Richard Brookover began his career with the City of Winter Springs on January 21, 1985. Mr. Brookover’s last day with the City will be March 31, 2011. Resolution Number 2011-10 is being submitted during the Consent Agenda of this Meeting for your Approval. Then, during the Awards and Presentation section of this Regular Meeting, Resolution 2011-10 will be presented to Richard Brookover in honor of his 26 years of service to the City of Winter Springs. 2011 03 28 Consent 201 Resolution 2011-10 Cheney Retirement REGULAR MEETING – MARCH 28, 2011 CONSENT AGENDA ITEM 202 PAGE 2 OF 2 FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact if Resolution Number 2011-10 is approved. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission; City Manager; City Attorney/Staff; placed in Press Packets; placed in the City Hall (Lobby) City Commission Meeting binder; and is available on the City’s Website, LaserFiche, and the City’s Server. Additionally, information related to this Agenda Item has been sent to media/press representatives who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, all Homeowner’s Associations on file with the City, all individuals who have requested Agendas/Agenda Item information, Department Directors; and also posted outside City Hall; posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the general public; and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2011-10 in honor of Utility Department employee Richard Brookover and his 26 years of dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs. WHEREAS, RICHARD BROOKOVER has provided the residents of Winter Springs with 26 years of dedicated and distinguished service in the Winter Springs Utility and Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, RICHARD BROOKOVER joined the City of Winter Springs on January 21, 1985 as a Maintenance Man in the Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, RICHARD BROOKOVER was promoted through the years to Light Equipment Operator, Crew Chief, Heavy Equipment Operator, and Team Leader within the Public Works Department based on his skills and aptitude; and WHEREAS, RICHARD BROOKOVER has served the last 6 years as a Lift Station Maintenance Mechanic in the Utility Department where his positive attitude and persistent smile continue to make him an exemplary example of a professional employee for everyone in the Utility and Public Works Department to follow. Now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida as follows: SECTION I - That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs upon the occasion of RICHARD BROOKOVER'S retirement takes great pleasure to recognize and honor him for his uncommon level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his employment in the Winter Springs Utility Department. SECTION II — That this Resolution commending the services of RICHARD BROOKOVER be recorded upon the official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida. SECTION III — That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to RICHARD BROOKOVER with our sincerest thanks for his many contributions.
