Authorization REQUEST: The City Clerk requests that the City Commission review and Approve Resolution Number 2011 -03 offering their Appreciation and Gratitude for the contributions and service of Ms. Sally McGinnis as the recent Commissioner for District Four. SYNOPSIS: Based on past practices, the City Commission has expressed their gratitude to Elected Officials, similar to what they have done for Board and Committee Members who are no longer serving the City. Upon the City Commission's Approval of this Resolution, the applicable former Elected Official will be contacted by the City Clerk and asked to attend a City Commission Meeting or event to receive their Resolution of Appreciation. CONSIDERATIONS: Former Commissioner Sally McGinnis was Elected Commissioner for District Four on November 5, 2002, and served two (2) Terms until 2010; with her last official City Commission Regular Meeting being October 25, 2010. Resolution 2011 -03 has been written in honor of former Commissioner Sally McGinnis' dedicated service to the City of Winter Springs. CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA CITY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING - JANUARY 10, 2011 CONSENT AGENDA ITEM "204" PAGE 2 OF 2 FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact with the Approval of Resolution Number 2011 -03. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission; City Manager; City Attorney /Staff; placed in Press Packets; placed in the City Hall (Lobby) City Commission Meeting binder; and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, information related to this Agenda Item has been sent to media/press representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, all Homeowner's Associations on file with the City, all individuals who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Department Directors; and also posted outside City Hall; posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the general public; and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. Upon Approval of this Resolution, the City Clerk will contact former Commissioner Sally McGinnis, in keeping with the City Commission's agreed upon recommendation as noted in this Agenda Item. RECOMMENDATION: The City Clerk is requesting that the City Commission review and Approve Resolution Number 2011 -03, and decide if they would like to present this Resolution at a future City Commission Regular Meeting or at the upcoming Farewell Event, recently approved by the City Commission. WHEREAS, SALLY MCGINNIS has performed an outstanding service to the public by representing the City of Winter Springs, Florida on the City Commission as the Commissioner for District Four in this City since being Elected on November 5, 2002 and serving into November 2010; and WHEREAS, the efforts, dedication, and work of SALLY MCGINNIS has greatly benefited the residents and her neighbors of Winter Springs; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida, wish to express their appreciation and acknowledgement on behalf of the citizens of Winter Springs; and to commend SALLY MCGINNIS for her committed and outstanding service as a valued member of the City of Winter Springs' City Commission. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida that: SECTION I. — This Resolution of Appreciation for the service of SALLY MCGINNIS be recorded upon the official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida. SECTION II. — That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to SALLY MCGINNIS with our heartfelt thanks. SECTION III. - That through this Resolution, that this City Commission does hereby formally recognize and appreciate the public service, insight, and knowledge of SALLY MCGINNIS and thank her sincerely for her many achievements and her outstanding service to our community.
