HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010 12 13 Consent 203 Purchase Of Medium Dump Truck COMMISSION AGENDA CONSENT X INFORMATIONAL ITEM 203 PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR December 13, 2010 MGR /DEPT /,��' Meeting Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Department requesting authorization to purchase one (1) Medium Dump Truck Ford F -450 by piggybacking off of Florida Sheriff's Association Bid # 10 -18 -0907. SYNOPSIS: The vehicle requested for purchase is a Ford F -450 15,000 GVW dump truck for the operation and maintenance of the city maintained rights of way and storm sewer facilities at a cost of $37,209.00 from Duval Ford. CONSIDERATIONS: • The Ford F -450 dump truck will be utilized for the operation and maintenance of the city maintained rights of way and storm sewer facilities. This vehicle will replace a similar dump truck purchased in 2006, that was involved in an accident and was declared totally damaged except for the its dump body. Insurance proceeds were $23,206. • The Florida Sheriffs Association has already received bids for Ford F -450 being considered under Bid #10 -18 -0907. The bid price for the medium dump truck is $37,209.00 excluding the dump body which was salvaged from the damaged vehicle. FISCAL IMPACT: The vehicle purchase of $37,209.00 is within the $38,000 budgeted amount requested in Transportation Improvement Fund line code (104 - 64100). Insurance proceeds of $23,206 were received for the total loss of the previous vehicle. Expenditure of the funds would occur within 120 to 180 days. 12131 0_COMM_Consent_203_P W_Medi um_Dump_Truck Consent Agenda Item 203 December 13. 2010 Page 2 COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: This Agenda Item has been forwarded to the Mayor and City Commission; City Manager; City Attorney /Staff; placed in Press Packets; placed in the City Hall (Lobby) City Commission Meeting binder; and is available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Additionally, information related to this Agenda Item has been sent to media/press representatives who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, all Homeowner's Associations on file with the City, all individuals who have requested Agendas /Agenda Item information, Department Directors; and also posted outside City Hall; posted inside City Hall with additional copies available for the general public; and posted at five (5) different locations around the City. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that authorization be granted to piggyback off of the Florida Sheriff's Association Bid #10 -18 -0907 with Duval Ford for the purchase of one (1) F -450 dump truck for the Public Works Department at a cost of $37,209.00 payable from the Transportation Improvement Fund - Vehicle line code 104 - 64100.
