REQUEST: Land Design Innovations, Inc. (City consultant) is presenting the Summary Report for Economic
Development activities from September 17, 2010 through October 15, 2010. The information in this agenda item
will be verbally presented under item 300 at the November 15, 2010 City Commission meeting.
SYNOPSIS: As part of their contractual economic development efforts for the City, Land Design Innovations
(LDI) makes monthly reports to the City Commission summarizing and detailing their efforts on behalf of the City
relative to economic development.
CONSIDERATIONS: LDI has summarized their efforts relative to their economic development efforts in the
following areas:
• Project Sematech Activities
• UCF Class Curriculum Development
• Meetings
• Upcoming Activities
The information in this agenda item will be verbally presented under item 300 at the November 15, 2010
Commission meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this agenda item.
COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: No communication efforts beyond the advertising of the Commission agenda
are necessary in conjunction with this agenda item.
RECOMMENDATIONS: The City Commission is being asked to review and accept the information in this agenda
item.

Winter Springs Economic Development Program — Summary Report
The following activities occurred between September 17, 2010 — October 15, 2010 of the Economic
Development project:
1. Project Sematech Actvities:
• Contacted Regional Atlanta EDA representative, Phil Trader to discuss EDA grant
options
• Participated in on -going meetings with County staff, property owner and UCF
• Reviewing EDA Grant application
• Met with UCF, Pertree, Seminole County EDC, Metro Orlando EDC, and Cascells
regarding infrastructure and required funding.
• Completed and submitted Sematech Grant Application to Grants.gov
• Provided requested follow up information to State's Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
Required creation and submittal of 12 data CDs with complete application, support
documents (Preliminary Engineering Report and Environmental Narrative Report),
attachments and additional maps to SPOC.
• Completed two (2) additional project area maps showing site, proposed facility locations,
general site information, proposed infrastructure locations.
• Posted submitted grant application to LDI FTP site for download. Notified ECFRPC,
City, County, Casscells, SPOC and EDA regarding availability of files.
2. UCF Class Curriculum Development
• J.Jones prepared and submitted course outline and activity list for student project for
UCF College of Planning to C. Walken, Instructor.
