Authorization REQUEST: Police Department requests the City Commission to approve the utilization of Air -Pak Product & Services, Inc. for the purpose of expanding the Police Department's Crime Lab. Funding is requested from Police Impact Fees in the amount of $21,355.00 plus 10% contingency. SYNOPSIS: At the July 26, Commission meeting the commission approved expansion to the Police Department's Crime Lab and to utilize P.N.L. Commercial Corporation. On July 30, 2010 P.N.L. Commercial Corporation excused themselves as the selected contractor to do the expansion. On July 31, 2010 Air -Pak Product & Services, Inc. was contacted to inquire if they would still honor their quote. They accepted the project under the quote that they submitted for $21,355.00 to do the expansion; this is a $2,830.00 increase compared to P.N.L. Commercial Corporation quote. The third quote was from Patrick Stack Inc. for $28,834.00. CONSIDERATIONS: Air- Pak Products & Services was the second lowest bid for the original bid process and was the contractor for the Vistawilla Sub Station Office and has a good history with the City of Winter Springs. The available balance in Police Impact Fees is $68,450.30. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: Post the agenda prior to the meeting at various locations throughout the city. RECOMMENDATIONS: The City Commission to approve the expenditure of $21,355.00 plus 10% contingency from Police Impact Fees and approve utilization of Air -Pak Product & Services, Inc. as the contractor for this project.
