WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA
W HEREAS, the Winter Springs Police Department is recognized as a both a National and State accredited Law
Enforcement Agency; and
W HEREAS, the Winter Springs Police Department has a reputation for providing a safe community and, as noted in
their mission statement, their goal is to "enhance the quality of life throughout the City of Winter Springs by working
cooperatively with all of our citizens to preserve the peace, enforce the law, reduce the perception of fear, and provide for
a safe and caring environment "; and
W HEREAS, understandably, whenever a child is missing, it is imperative for the Department to do whatever is
necessary to bring the child to safety; and
1(HEREAS, on April 9, 2010, eleven year old resident Nadia Bloom went missing from her Barrington Estates
neighborhood in Winter Springs and, over the course of that evening and the next four very long days, the Winter Springs
Police Department did everything within their power to find young Nadia; and
W HEREAS, the Winter Springs Police Department, utilizing all equipment and resources at their disposal, searched
day and night in the Lake Jesup Conservation Area, carefully working through densely thick woods and dangerous
swamplands along the shores of Lake Jesup for any sign of Nadia; and
W HEREAS, on the morning of Tuesday, April 13, 2010, with the assistance of Mr. James King, a Seminole County
resident who ultimately found Nadia, the Winter Springs Police Department brought Nadia and Mr. King out of the
swamps and woods of Lake Jesup to safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, JOHN F. BUSH, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs along with the City Commission
do hereby Proclaim our thanks and gratitude to the

for the successful search and rescue of Nadia Bloom and for their continuing efforts to keep the City of Winter Springs the
safe and wonderful place that it is!
