OFFICE OF TKE MAYOR WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, The Office of the Municipal Clerk, is a time honored position that exists throughout the world, and
has been recognized as one of the first documented public servants; and
W HEREAS, In 1984, the President of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan issued an official Proclamation
recognizing Municipal Clerks Week and the indispensable role a Clerk plays in local government;
and
IV HEREAS, The Office of the Municipal Clerk is recognized as a vital part of local government and is
acknowledged as the official records keeper; maintains official records and documents; supports the
City's legislative body by recording and maintaining the official records and legislative history of the
municipality; provides Notice of all official Meetings; provides a wide range of public information
services; maintains and oversees the integrity of Elections; and performs all mandated functions
under the Law; and
1V HEREAS, The Municipal Clerk acts as the cornerstone of their Commission; and provides a professional link
WHERE between citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at all levels; and
IIHEREAS, Municipal Clerks have pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality and impartiality, rendering
equal service to all; and
WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the affairs of the Office of the
Municipal Clerk through participation in education programs, seminars, workshops and the annual
meetings of their State, Province, County and International Professional organizations; and
W HEREAS, It is most appropriate that we recognize the accomplishments Itshm
g p ents of the Office of the Municipal Clerk.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN F. BUSH, Mayor of the City of Winter Springs, do hereby Proclaim the week of May 2 -
May 8,2010as

and further extend appreciation to our City Clerk Andrea Lorenzo - Luaces, MMC; Joan Brown, Deputy City Clerk, Carol
Lallathin, Assistant to the City Clerk; and Gayle Coutant, Assistant to the City Clerk and to all Municipal Clerks for the
vital services they perform and their exemplary dedication to the communities they represent.
