Regular Meeting Authorization, REQUEST: The Community Development Department, Development Services Division requests that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2010 -35 recognizing the retirement of Building Official David Alamina SYNOPSIS: The City Commission is very appreciative of all of the employees who faithfully serve the citizens and City Commission of Winter Springs. For long- serving employees, the City Commission has expressed their interest in presenting such employees with a Resolution at a City Commission meeting. In such cases, a Resolution is submitted to the City Commission on the Consent Agenda for approval. Upon approval by the City Commission, the applicable employee is either presented with the Resolution at the same City Commission meeting during "Awards and Presentations" or attends a future City Commission meeting to receive their Resolution. This Agenda Item is submitted for approval for David Alamina to be presented with Resolution Number 2010 -35 recognizing his 22 years of service with the Public Works and Community Development Departments during the Awards and Presentation section of the June 28, 2010 Regular City Commission Meeting. CONSIDERATIONS: Mr. David Alamina, Building Official, first joined the City on May 19, 1988. David's last day of work will be July 1, 2010. Resolution Number 2010 -35 is being submitted during the Consent Agenda of this Meeting for Commission Approval. Then, during the Awards and Presentation section of this Regular Meeting, the City Manager will present this Resolution 2010 -35 to David Alamina in honor of his 22 years of service to the City of Winter Springs. 06281 0 COMM Consent 200 Alamina Retirement CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS, FLORIDA CITY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING - JUNE 28, 2010 CONSENT AGENDA ITEM "200" PAGE 2 OF 2 FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact if Resolution Number 2010 -35 is approved. COMMUNICATION EFFORTS: Copies or access to this Agenda Item and Resolution have been provided to the Mayor and City Commission, City Manager, City Attorney, and Department Directors; placed in Press Packets; placed in the Lobby Binder; and are available on the City's Website, LaserFiche, and the City's Server. Community Development Staff are currently working together to ensure that a seamless transition occurs during this change so there is no impact to the plan review and permitting process. Notification of an official retirement gathering party will be forthcoming. RECOMMENDATION: The Community Development Director is requesting that the City Commission approve Resolution Number 2010 -35 in honor of David Alamina, Building Official. If this Resolution is approved under the Consent Agenda, a presentation of the Resolution to Mr. Alamina will then be made at this same City Commission meeting during "Awards and Presentations ". WHEREAS, DAVID ALAMINA has provided the residents of Winter Springs with 22 years of dedicated and distinguished service in the Winter Springs Public Works and Community Development Departments; and WHEREAS, DAVID ALAMINA joined the City of Winter Springs on May 19, 1988 as the Facilities Maintenance Technician for the Public Works Department overseeing maintenance of all City buildings, and WHEREAS, DAVID ALAMINA transferred to the Building Department on November 9, 1989 and earned the required licenses to become Building Inspector and subsequently achieved additional licensure to become Senior Building Inspector, and WHEREAS, DAVID ALAMINA became Building Official on February 24, 2005, and has continued in that capacity until his upcoming retirement on July 1, 2010. Now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida as follows: SECTION I — That the Mayor and Commission, City Manager, and Staff of the City of Winter Springs upon the occasion of DAVID ALAMINA'S retirement takes great pleasure to recognize and honor him for his uncommon level of distinguished service to the residents of Winter Springs through his employment in the Winter Springs Community Development and Public Works Departments. SECTION II — That this Resolution commending the services of DAVID ALAMINA be recorded upon the official Public Records and Minutes of this City Commission of the City of Winter Springs, Florida. SECTION III — That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to DAVID ALAMINA with our sincerest thanks for his many contributions.
