RJH:QUEST: UtilityIPublic Works Department Responding to the City Commission Questions
relative to the Fiberglas Tanks on the Property at Hayes Road and S.R. 434.
PURPOSE: The purpose ofthis Board item is to provide the City Commission information relative to
the fiberglass tanks that were installed at Hayes Road and S.R. 434 when the site was
going to be a gas station.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Staff contacted Ross Arbelius, Program Manager for the Seminole County Petroleum
Storage Tank Compliance and Cleanup program (407-665-2330), and inquired about the
regulatory status of the fiberglass tanks that were installed during the initial construction of a gas
station.
Mr. Arbelius was very familiar with the site and indicated that there was not a requirement
for the tanks to be removed when development occurred on the property because they were never
used for petroleum storage. Staff is reviewing this issue as part of the site plan review and will
include a recommendation on the tanks when the "Medallion Convenience Store" site plan is
brought to the Commission for approval at a future date.
