REQUEST:
The Parks and Recreation Department requests that the City Commission
review information from the Senior Citizen Center survey conducted in
March and April, 2004.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this item is to inform the City Commission of the Senior
Citizen Center survey results.
CONSIDERATIONS:
. The Winter Springs Senior Citizen Center conducted a random sampling written survey
in March and April, 2004.
. The purpose of the survey was to understand senior's needs and obtain comments.
. The results of the survey were as follows; 47 written responses, 35 Females, 12 Males, 1-
age 55, 5-ages 60-64, 13-ages 65-74, and 21- ages 75+. All seniors participated in some
activity or program at the Senior Center.
. Staff summary of random sampling survey is as follows:
I. There is a need to actively promote the senior center to all seniors, especially
Seniors ages 55-65.
2. There is a need to provide more activities or equipment to interest more males.
3. As the center continues to grow, there is a need to consider expanding the existing
building to provide more activities and space.

WINTER SPRINGS SENIOR CENTER COMMENTS
I feel this is the place to come if you are a senior citizen. Friendly and pleasant atmosphere. You
are always greeted by the Senior Citizen Lady, Susie Coffman.
Yes, my comment is to have to concern Susie Coffman as to how she pleases so many of her
senior citizens. It really amazes me how she goes out of her way to make you fee comfortable and
happy there. No one has prompted me into writing enough, good things she has done for me and
a lot of other seniors there that I have seen in my 8 years (been a member since then)! I would
like for you to quote "give credit" where credit is due to a wonderful person (Susie Coffman);
outstanding also. Thank you for reading my comments.
Immaculate, well managed facility.
This facility is very well kept. It is bursting at the seams; we desperately need room for the one
artist. More recreation for our gentlemen such as a pool table.
Very nice, friendly facility.
I have found management to be very helpful and gracious.
It's a fine organization for seniors and provides many useful functions and activities.
Susan Coffman is an extremely caring, find administrator and very professional organizer.
Clean and well managed.
It could be larger to accommodate Billiard table, etc.

Have more fee classes like Casselberry.

So popular, it is bursting at the seams - a new building is needed.

As an active member for approximately 15 years and I can get enough out of this Center it is well
run and much needed.
We could use more room to better our activities.
Can't say enough of all the good done for the seniors. It's really a pleasant place to meet and
make friends.
Have been a member or over 15 years. I have seen it grow from several members to many. More
space for different activities and affordability many more to enjoy the Center. The President and
Director plus all the Volunteers have made it a home and fun for many retired old timers.
Especially those who are alone. You're never alone at Winter Springs Senior Center. I hope the
City of Winter Springs always considers the Center high priority for all its need.
I like it very much. Most of my leisure time is spent here.
The center is well organized, always clean and reflects good supervision.
Very much care for the many actives offered here.
Need to enlarge the Center for more room and better actives for us to use.

Also Susie's is always there to help all of us. She helps us in every way. She tires to always
