Robert Lamastus, born in Kentucky, was part of the many people that went to Panama to work in the construction of the Canal. He fell in love with the land and the hills and bought a prop- erty in Boquete in 1915. After retirement from the Canal, My Lamastus, turned the land into a coffee plantation. His wife continued with the plantation after his passing. In the 30's she began exporting coffee to United States. Today, Thatcher Lamastus and his sons, Leonard included, continue to produce coffee in the same tradition. Improving the quality and increas- ing the production.
