I' ( REQUEST: Community Development Department requests that the City Commission consider temporary signage for Famous Uncle AI's Hot Dogs shop at Building No.9, within the JDC Calhoun Town Center site. PURPOSE: The purpose of this Agenda Item is for the City Commission to consider 2 temporary signs proposed for Famous Uncle AI's Hot Dogs. The Town Center Code states that "All signs shall be subject to a Discretionary Aesthetic Appropriateness Review by the DRC in order that all signs are consistent and in harmony with the Winter Springs Town Center." CONSIDERA TION: Famous Uncle AI's is proposing 2 types of temporary signage in conjunction with their grand opening. One is a 2' x 10' banner, to be attached to the awning on either side of the building for a maximum of 14 consecutive calendar days, as provided by Section 20-470 (16). The second is a free-standing sign, some of which have been observed in the Town Center. These free-standing signs are prohibited by Section 16-57 and Subsection 20-470 (14) (g). September 13, 2004 Regular Item 501 Page 2 of2 ATTACHMENTS: A - Proposed signage RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the banner sign (to be attached to Building No.9) for a maximum of 14 consecutive calendar days, pursuant to Section 20-470, but recommends denial of the proposed free-standing signage, since it is inconsistent with Code.
