REQUEST: The Public Works Department, Urban Beautification Division:. is requesting the
Commission review plans for landscape improvements to the George Street
greenbelt areas.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Agenda Item is to provide the Commission landscape plans for the
greenbelt areas between George Street and State Road 419,
CONSIDERA nONS:
The Commission has requested staff to provide additional information regarding to the
George Street Landscape Project outlined in Agenda Item 304, which was recently included in the
Commission Agenda for the August 23,2004 meeting. The attached landscape plan provides a
detailed schematic as to locations of plant material and irrigation system layout.
Parking in the greenbelt areas along George Street has been an ongoing issue, The
layout of the trees and plant material is designed to reduce parking in the greenbelt areas in addition to
creating a visual and sound buffer for the homeowners along George Street,
FUNDING:
Funding of $10,000 project is available from the Transportation Improvement Fund
(104-65000-30003) and it should be completed before September 30,2004.

During construction, proper safely methods shall be observed by all war1<men on the job.
Contractor shall supply a (1) year warranty on materials and wor1<manship of the irrigation system.
Sprinkler heads to be located 6" from curbline.
Flexible PVC 'ftexpipe' (ribbed) to be used at each buried sprinkler. (Min. 11
All areas shall be cleaned up and free of wor!( debris before job completion.
Utility locates to be done a minimum of <4S hours before war!( begins. The same notification to the City,
12" Square PVC UN resistent valve boxes to be used.
Backflow device to have galvanized piping in all above ground areas.
Irrigation system must pass inspection by the City of Winter Springs before payment will be issued.
laterellines shall be flushed before sprinklers are installed.
Trenching shall be property backfilled and sod replaced before job completion.
