HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004 04 12 Consent 204 I COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 204 CONSENT X INFORMA TIONAL PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR April 12,2004 Meeting MGR ~IDEPT /~ Authorization REQUEST: The Utility Department is Requesting Supplemental Appropriation in the amount of $14,545.00 for emergency sewer repairs. PURPOSE: The purpose ofthis item is to provide a supplemental appropriation to the funds encumbered in Consent Agenda Item 202 of 2/23/2004 for relining sewer mains due to an additional emergency sewer line repair needed on Pearl Road. CONSIDERA TIONS: This supplemental appropriation is needed to cover the cost of an emergency sewer relining project needed to avoid further failure of the 8" sewer main on Pearl Road. Failure of this 395 foot run of sanitary sewer pipe has already resulted in repair costs of approximately $6,500.00. Televising of the line has shown this section to be in very poor condition presenting a public safety problem as more roadway will be lost due to the continued collapse of this clay line. Open cut repairs have not resolved the problem. The City Commission approved on February 23, 2004, the piggybacking of a Broward County Bid for $96,000 of sewer relining. Pearl Road was not included in that authorization. The estimated cost for the relining based on the same piggyback bid is $14,545.00. FUNDING: The work will require a supplemental appropriation of $14,545 for the Utility Enterprise fund (3600) balance. The fund balance was estimated at $2.5 million as of 10/1/2003. Consent Agenda Item 204 April 12,2004 Page 2 RECOMMENDA TION: The Utility Department recommends the City Commission approve the supplemental appropriation of$14,545.00 from the Utility Enterprise Fund (3600) and authorize the increase to the previously approved agenda item - Consent 202 of February 23, 2004.
