This year the review panel was faced with a difficult challenge due to an increase in the number of applications and the limited funds available for distribution. We had approximately $36,400 in grant requests and only $18,500 in grant funds making the review process much more competitive than it has been in the past. In reviewing the grant proposals, the panel's considerations included: the project's overall impact, support, and enhancement of the arts in Seminole County; the number of people being served; accuracy and viability of the budget; support from other sources; quality and clarity of the grant proposal and compliance with the "Florida Arts License Plate Program Guidelines" designated by the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs in Tallahassee for license plate revenue distribution.. Next year SCAC will have a "Grant Application Writing Workshop" to assist those first time applicants or applicants seeking additional assistance. All 2004-2005 grant recipients are encouraged to attend a special "SCAC Grant Awards Presentation" reception on Saturday, Nov. 20 th, 2004 at 6:00 PM., at the City of Casselberry Art House, (127 Quail Pond Circle) during the Jazz at Sunset Concert. Please RSVP to Allison Constantino at (407) 262-7774 . (If you are unable to attend this event, the check can be mailed to you). As part of the criteria to receive a SCAC grant, each grant recipient MUST become a SCAC member. Please contact Allison Constantino for a membership application. (The membership application can be faxed, emailed or snail mailed to you).
